Solar powered Supercharger stations being built for electric cars
According to The Times today, Britain's first solar-powered supercharging station for electric cars is being built near Braintree, Essex.
This is the first of 100 solar-powered charging stations being built across Britain over the next 5 years
Gridserve, the company behind the project says that the electricity needed will come from a solar canopy on the charging station and 2 large scale farms near York and Hull. This will make it all green energy.
These ' forecourts of the future' will charge up electric cars quickly,(20-30 minutes), will have 24 charging bays and will have airport-style rest areas with coffee shops, supermarkets, meeting rooms and lounges with internet access.
Electric car owners will be able to make long journeys with planned stops to rest and eat and recharge on sunshine before continuing their journey.
