More rapid charge points are to be installed as research from Highways England found that there are large gaps in the current network.
Some are caused by older, slower chargepints , not the rapid chargers that give 80% charge in 30 minutes.
Others are caused by 'hoggers' who leave vehicles plugged in for long periods
And some are faulty
Highways England says that the gaps are being filled and they are on track to cover 90% of the network by next March.
While newer electric cars have much larger ranges, users of older vehicles will be pleased that a network of fast chargers will make long journeys easier for them
